This is Hawkeye at the first hospital stop after the accident.
While jumping a mountain bike on a ramp in Colorado
the front wheel came off while he was in the air. When
the forks landed and stuck in the ground his face took the
full blunt of the ground after the crash. The helmet saved
him from broken bones and worse.

This is Hawk after he woke up (about 4:30 am) from surgery
by a plastic surgeon the night of the accident. They rebuilt part
of his nose and chin, reattached his bottom lip, used 30 stitches
and wired his front four teeth through his gums to a bar.

This is Hawk playing with mom's ibook.

Ashton still came over to see Hawkeye.

This is Hawk about 3 weeks after the accident.
(Although, this picture is reveresed.)
He started playing his trumpet after about seven weeks.
This is very good since in July his band and trumpet teachers
didn't think he would ever be able to play the trumpet again.
Hawk is now in Valley's Jazz Orchestra but has yet to regain
his former level. When the scare tissue in his lip leaves he
may have full recovery. God is good.

The night of the accident Paul was the only family member close
enough to help. He showed up at the first hospital to help decide
what should be done. Before things got too serious Paul
had to have a photo taken and lighten the mood.
Hawk says he was smiling in this picture.
